Bitsquid was founded in Stockholm in 2009 by the owners of Fatshark and the former lead engineers of Grin.
The Grin engine earned a reputation for technical excellency and was used in several research projects together with industry partners, such as Intel and Nvidia. By using that experience and combining it with lightweight designs that "do the right thing" we have created the Bitsquid technology, an engine with extreme flexibility, short iteration times and excellent multicore performance.
Fatshark fills an important role for Bitsquid. They keep us connected to the day-to-day work of game development and give us invaluable insight into the needs and workflows of artists, animators, level designers and gameplay programmers. We can also use them as a test bed for trying out new experimental technology. It is a relation that benefits both companies.
